Stories
I started with 4 stories. I tried to decide which was the better story but I couldn't. I brought it down to two. I hope they are the same length. Please help me decide which one I should finish!

First Story: War of the Kuni (passed)
Second Story: Count Down To Extinction (I got stumped. How can someone survive direct rays from the sun???)
Third Story: Tree Elf (waaaay too confusing)
Fourth Story: A Shocking Surprise [temporary name] (passed)

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which book is better?

Here are my first and last stories... enjoy!

War of the Kuni
Yes, the name does sound like a copy of "War of the Worlds" but I started this story way before I ever heard of that book or movie. If you know Japanese, the names may not seem to make sense, but I live in America so I didn't think of when Japanese-speakers read it.

War of the Kuni

Prologue

A long time ago, before Earth was inhabited by biotic matter, perhaps before Earth was even created, there was a young galaxy forming. The nebulas were just beginning to break apart into planets, one of the greatest civilizations of all times reached its peak. This story starts before the beginning and ends at that start. “Ends are also beginnings; we just don’t know them at the time”. There were many systems of interaction, isolated by the force of gravity, and they never knew each other. That is most likely a good thing because if they had known, the end would begin an alternate beginning. These creatures looked nothing like humans. They were not single celled organisms.

Each system of interaction, or kuni, had its own beliefs, abilities, and culture. Each kuni had many small parts they called minzoku. These civilizations knew nothing of war or violence; these ideas were invented by anger. The kuni had no reason to wish for more and felt there was no reason for violence.

One of the kuni named Altania believed that water was the source of all life. They had the ability to breath underwater. These were the first creatures to explore earth and are one of the only few kuni remembered by humans. They are the creatures who have created the city Atlantis. One of the major minzoku of Altania was Tadorna. They believed in sky.

Another kuni that is recognized today is called the Lopimay. That word is an acronym for Olympus. The Lopimay are recognized for many things but the true artifact that was once possessed by Lopimay is the biggest volcano in the solar system, Olympus Mon. This massive volcano is located on Phobos, one of the satellites orbiting Mars. Along with the Lopimay was the minzoku Genaceto. They are historically known for Pangaea.

The final kuni that is recognized today is one we should all remember. They are the reason that we are here on earth. They are… us. They are called Aethiops. They were the brains of all kuni.

As the universe expanded, the force of gravity became weaker. Minzoku drifted apart and were shuffled into different kuni. The big bang caused the universe to expand and as it expanded, gravity from outer layers pulled the center outward. In the center of the universe, a core began to form. This core had more gravity than a black hole. It pulled the whole universe into its pull.

Gravity and Electromagnetism are two parts of why we stay on the floor. If gravity got its way, everything would be hurtling down towards earth’s hot core at about 9.8 mph. We would end up being in a small black hole that used to be called Earth. We do not touch anything. When we touch things that seem solid, it is just the electrons repelling each other because they are always negatively charged. This is called electromagnetism. The repelling of all forces on earth is what keeps us from falling to the center. Electromagnetism is much stronger than gravity because it holds up everything. We currently know of 4 dimensions. Three are of space and one of time. Why can’t we experience more than just those four? Scientists think they have discovered why. It is explained in a theory called Brane Theory. Imagine there is a bug that can only slide on water. It cannot fly in the air or go underwater. This bug has its four dimensions. Above it is the sky which has more dimensions and below it is the water which has more dimensions. Brane is short for membrane which is a wall separating two volumes. The bug is separating two volumes. The bug can’t fly into the air and we can’t fly into another dimension. The two other forces are strong and weak forces. Strong forces are the strongest natural forces known. Weak forces are the second strongest forces known but they are weak compared to strong forces. In an atom, there is a nucleus that contains neutral and positive charges. The reason that the positive charges hold together is because of strong forces. If strong forces gave up and disappeared, the world would fall apart. Weak force is what is responsible for beta decay, or an unstable atom such as H3 (tritium) turning into He3. The proton emits a force that is able to change the down quarks in a neutron to up quarks or vice versa.

Electromagnetism grew stronger as it got concentrated into a smaller sphere. It got to a certain point where it was able to cancel out gravity. To this day, it is still expanding as it pushes off the core of the universe. The space between the core and outside the universe is where kuni existed. The space is like the water bug; we can’t go above or below it, just through it. The Aethiops were the only kuni that. All through their time, they tried to figure out how to travel to it.

After this big shift in the universe, the kuni were all packed revolving around only a few stars. They began to discover each other. They used each other to their advantage and helped each other in time of need.

Kuni

Aethiops

Aethiops were interested in technology. They believed only in advancing their current items. They were the Maya’s of their time. They were peaceful stargazers and time keepers that were involved in the math and sciences. They were the first to discover the wheel and were able to harness the power of fire besides Lopimay. One of the minzoku of Aethiops, Misr, which is now known as Egypt, were the first to have a written language. Hieroglyphics came from Misr. With the work of other kuni, they built one of the world’s greatest architectural structures, the pyramids of Egypt. The stones were placed by Genaceto, the gold tips were made from Lopimay melting special types of rocks, and it was moved to the desired place by Tadorna.

Lopimay

This elusive group never settled in one area. They made hide outs in inactive volcanoes and loved to feel heat. Their closest friends were the Genaceto. Olympus Mon is the largest volcano the ever visited and they kept it well protected. They believed that it will erupt if they did something bad. The Regece minzoku of the Aethiops learned to live and work like the Lopimay. Today, Regece is known as Greece and they keep Olympus alive.

Altania

Altania is perhaps the most secretive kuni of them all. Some believe that they still exist today. Others believe that they were just an illusion and died out a long time ago. Atlantis was the name of their capital. Shortly after the “second big bang” the Altania were the strongest creatures to walk the universe. They were able to destroy anything they came by. But they were peaceful. If no one did anything to them, they did nothing to others. They had all they needed. No one feared each other. Wars would just be the spark to more wars. The Altania only wished to help.

Tadorna

The daily routine of a Tadorna member was never simple. They were the most complicated. They lived between the calm ocean to the east, snowy plains north, jungle to the west, and desert to the south. In-between those ranging features was action. Raging winds, blazing heat, wet earth(although there was no such thing as “earth” back then), and cloudy skies. It was a mystery how they survived and thrived for so many years.

Genaceto

The final group that is important to how the world is today is the Genaceto. They may not make the world a better place, but with out them, earth would not exist. With the help of Aethiops technology to travel here, Altania for oceans and seas, Lopimay for a solid core, and Tadorna for mixing it all together as one planet, Genaceto built the rock we know as earth. But this is yet to come for another few octillion years. There is still a lot to come in-between now and the period of earth.

Genso Shimasu

Each kuni believed that besides just communicating, there should be leaders, leaders that would choose the right thing. This idea spread through the solar system. Each group elected the strongest and most skilled of their kind. There were about 20 or more kuni which all had participated in this idea. This group was called the Genso Shimasu. They were considered the most powerful people in the universe. This brought all the kuni closer together. These members of the Genso Shimasu would pass down their power to younger generations. This was like the checks and balance system back then. It was thought to never fail.

They Begin Their Journey

About half way between the second big bang and when earth is created, 14 of the major kuni have fallen apart and one of them left the Genso Shimasu. Whether they are still alive or not is a mystery. They were the Cytochnid. Genso Shimasu was now a small league but they were the “Superpowers”. They were the Allies and the NATO. They kept a close eye on Cytochnid until that kuni disappeared. It is not long before Earth is created.

After about 270 billion years, the kuni have survived and the early Mesozoic period is happening. This is when the Central minzoku of the Aethiops discovered how to travel far out into space. They tested their equipment until it was close to perfect. They used Genaceto for rocks and Lopimay to melt the rocks and create a form of liquid coal or rocky oil. All the kuni split in half. They had the half that wanted to explore and the half that wanted to stay on their planets. The Genso Shimasu got everything organized and they got ready to fly. No one knows if the kuni who decided to stay are still alive.

The ship was much different than any plane. It was like a cone with huge jets on the back and no wings. Instead of wings, there were small spikes sticking out of the ship. There were millions of them and they all can shift any direction desired in less than a second. They used these because wings would have prevented the ship from going up or down. This ship can go in any direction but backwards. Hatches opened on both sides. They were illuminated with green floodlights. It was raining as all the passengers walked on board.

The leader of Aethiops was shouting orders to the workers. They were working hard for their expedition. His name was Thoreau Azenus.

“Move that rock down into the pit! Lopimay, start your engines! Seal hatches and we are ready!” shouted Captain Azenus.

The metallic voice of the computer counted down. “Stabilizers Activated!” Workers were running and getting ready. “Preparing Lift Off.” The ship became air-borne. “Approaching Atmosphere Alpha” The ship sped up. “Activating Side Rockets” On each side of the ship, two tube like rockets came out and were ignited. “Atmosphere Alpha Cleared. Approaching Atmosphere Beta. Dropping Stabilizers.” Now the ship was hurtling towards space. They were close to penetrating the thick atmosphere. Four weights now dropped from the ship. “Launch Successful”

This relaxed Captain Azenus. He was not sure about the insulation. During testing, it failed a few times. Next stop, unexpected planet earth! They traveled quite a few light-years before they saw something weird. It was a small ball of matter. It kept changing. It expanded and wouldn’t stop. They had to do something. It would have taken over everything if they had not stopped it. Weak forces kept acting on it. Every half life, it would notice that it was not stable. It changed again. It was taking loose atoms and converting them into another substance which made it bigger. The Lopimay encased it in fire. Since fire is energy, the ball couldn’t use it. The fire blocked out any atom that came by.

In memory of this quick but important problem solving, they decided to make on more planet, in between the second and third planets that were already there. That is where the heat was perfect. Genaceto formed a small rock area and Lopimay melted it. Next, Altania surrounded the core in water. The next step was Genaceto creating a chunk of land in the middle. The last thing was the Tadorna creating winds to stir up the land and water. After a few billion years, the land split up to form what it is now. All five of the kuni settled on this planet. It was the perfect place. They had brought seeds, bulbs, and clippings from plants they used to live by and planted them. They had all the food they needed.

In a distant planet, now called Mars, there lived another kuni. They have been isolated for so many years. They saw the brightness of the planet Earth being created. After many years of thriving on the new planet, the Genso Shimasu wanted to explore more planets. They went to Mars and saw mighty beasts roaming the land. These creatures showed respect the Genso Shimasu. Out of the limited supplies, Captain Azenus created a wall half way inside the ship. They left the ship out in the open. When they returned, 5 earth days later, there were beasts in the ship. Before they can leave, the Genso Shimasu closed the hatch and kept the “dinosaurs” in there. This is how dinosaurs came to earth.

This one is starting to get hard.... but if you all like it, I will keep going. Later in the book, the evil creatures will rise up and the good creatures will rise up and they go BOOM. Then humans split. Then there is equal technology in both sides... then, I have no clue what happens. I can't plan that far into the future (sobs), stop asking me such hard questions!

A Shocking Surprise (working title)
“Let’s do eenie meenie.” suggested Reese.
“Yeah.” said everyone.
It was a dark, muggy day, and Ryan and his friends were all playing tag in the neighborhood. They were deciding who would be “it.”
“OK, everyone line up. I will count.” said Reese, “Ready? Eenie meenie minie moe, catch a tiger by the toe, if he hollers let him go, my mother says to pick the very best one and you are it” He pointed to Floyd. Everyone knew he was the fasted and they all said “aww.”
Ryan had been running. After a few moments, Ryan stopped short. He noticed that the roof of one of the houses had a transparent, green ball on it.
“You’re it!” panted George Cowan, Ryan’s best friend.
George almost fell over Ryan. Ryan still was staring at the roof. He looked up and noticed a line stretching from a distant cloud towards earth. It was the same color as the ball on the roof.
“Do you see that?” whispered Ryan.
“What are you talking about?” asked George.
“That green thing on the roof and the line over in the sky there.” Ryan traced the shape of the line with his finger.
“I don’t see anything…” said George, still searching the sky.
“It’s getting closer! Look, over there! It’s stretching towards the green ball!” exclaimed Ryan. Now all of the children were looking up at the sky.
“What’s going on?” asked one kid.
“Why are you two staring?” asked another.
“A green line.” answered Ryan.
“Where?” a few children asked together.
“There!” answered Ryan, pointing at the line. “Let’s start playing over there. I don’t want to be near that thing.”
The children had no idea at the time why they moved. No body else saw the line. They thought he was crazy and they all went back to playing their game in a new location.
Ryan looked up at the line one last time. It was spreading in all directions. It started to drizzle.
“The line! It’s about to touch the ball! Watch!” yelled Ryan as all the children ran for shelter.
The line and the ball were inches away. The line was massive and went all the way up to the sky. The line grew a few more “branches” and then touched the ball. Just then, there was a bolt of lightning, a blinding flash.
Silence…

Ryan Thompson was in his bed. He opened his eyes and the light of day blinded him. It was as if the blinding lighting had lasted.
Ryan was a 25 year old man with blond-highlighted brown hair. He was taller than most people.

Ryan possessed a power that was unique. He had figured out that he had the ability to predict, see, and control lightning. He found this out about 18 years ago when he was playing tag with his friends. He saw a green ball on top of a house and a green line stretching toward the ball.
He saw this strange occurrence every time lighting struck, but no one else did. He was now 16 when he figured out what these things were. One time, he tried to draw out the shape with his finger to try to show his classmate, Louis Tozeen, what he sees. He noticed that he was really drawing something. It was that strange, green line. He was flabbergasted! He drew it in all kinds of weird directions. Then, with his other hand, he drew a circle, nothing happened. Then, he tried drawing it with his fist, and again, nothing happened. Then, he noticed there were two, small, green bulbs on his palms. He tried to shake it off, and then flick it off, but it stayed stuck to his palm. He finished drawing the line with two straight ends. His friend who he was showing was looking at him like he was foolish. He got bored and walked away, and into his class. Shakily but excited, Ryan put his left hand on one of the ends. He was too busy to notice that bell had rung and he was late. Now, he put his other hand on the other side. Instantly, there was a flicker of bright light. He had created lightning! He had figured out why he saw those green lines! He was able to create electricity through his very own hands! Unfortunately, Mr. Ortoki, the assistant principal, happened to walk by just as he sparked the lightning. His assistant principal was a 50 year old, fat, bald guy. Everyone hated him. Ryan shot his head up and saw that Mr. Ortoki was standing right over him.
“I think you ought to come with me.”
Ryan had never been inside Mr. Ortoki’s office but knew no one came out happy. He followed the assistant principle down the hallway and into the office. Mr. Ortoki shut the door and pointed to a seat. Ryan sat down.
“You know you are not allowed to have fireworks on school campus, let alone light them!” He yelled as he made his way to a seat.
“Sir, tha—“ Ryan said defensively
“I may be old, but I don’t hallucinate. I saw that explosion. You could have burnt the school down!” hollered Mr. Ortoki.
“That wasn’t a firework!” finished Ryan.
They were interrupted by a few intercom calls. They were teachers complaining that their televisions and overheads broke down.
“You’ve already got 5 day suspension, keep lying and I’ll make it 10 days!” roared the assistant principal. His head was turning red.
They were bombarded with more calls from teachers saying that everything was fine again.
“I don’t have fireworks, you can go check for remnants.” said Ryan boldly, “I don’t have fireworks” He repeated loudly.
“SILENCE!” Mr. Ortoki was now fuming. “I have seen a lot of cases like this. Don’t think you can fool me.” Ryan knew the whole front office had heard. He could hear the room outside go silent and everyone creeping closer and closer to the door, trying to hide that they were listening. “You can’t fool me, Ryan. How would you like it if I send our cop up there to investigate? If he finds anything, you get 10 days, if he finds anything in your locker, backpack, or on you, it’s 10 days. If he finds nothing, you get off with a detention.”
“Actually, I would like it.” answered Ryan, sarcastically. Mr. Ortoki was now red as an apple. He walked out the door and stumbled over the crowd of staff members.
“BACK TO WORK, SLACKERS, SHOW’S OVER!!!” The terrified staff members went back to their desks. Mr. Ortoki walked up the hall and knocked on Deputy Norso, the school officer’s, door. Deputy Norso was a tall, lanky man in his 30’s. He was wearing his glasses and holding a manila folder over packed with papers. Ryan never had anything against him, but for some reason, the school officer always watched him suspiciously, as if he didn’t trust Ryan.
“Yes?” said Norso in a fatigued voice.
“This student here has been caught using fireworks in school campus. We want you to investigate.”
“Well, that’s what I’m here for.” he said, glancing at Ryan through his thin rimmed glasses. “Where did this little hooligan set off these fireworks?”
Mr. Ortoki led the way up to where he had seen the flash. The assistant principal seemed to cool down and was breaking into a wide grin when he saw Deputy Norso investigating.
“Can we hurry this up?” asked Ryan, “I’m late for class and we are working with dang—important chemicals today. (He almost said dangerous and he remember that Mr. Roberts want it to be kept a secret) Mr. Roberts said this will be the most valuable lesson we will learn all year.”
“Sssshhh!” hissed Deputy Norso, who was examining each tile in the area with a tool that looked like what the doctors use to look inside your ear.
After about 20 minutes, the officer sprung up and said “No markings here, let’s see if he’s carrying any.” The deputy searched Ryan and found nothing.
“Back pack, please” Deputy Norso said, holding out his open hand. Ryan followed his orders. “Interesting, nothing here, either…”
“Check his locker!” boomed Mr. Ortoki. His grin was fading and he started to turn red with embarrassment.
They went to Ryan’s locker and still found nothing.
“Are you sure you saw something, Mike?” asked Deputy Norso.
“Yeah, Ryan surely had something here.” Answered the assistant principal,”Have I ever been wrong with this stuff, Al?” he asked, rhetorically. “Check the cameras!” Apparently, they called each other by their first names.
“There… are no cameras in this hallway. We have been trying to get them for weeks.” said the officer.
“Then check other cameras nearby! Do something!” yelled Mr. Ortoki. Ryan saw all of the windows, which were on the doors, fill up with students itching to get a glimpse of what was going on.
The deputy marched off and came back about 30 minutes of silence later. “Nothing… The only weird thing was that they all got fuzzy for a second, but only the ones nearby.”
“Pieces of crap! Get new cameras!” roared the assistant principal.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do.” said Deputy Norso, smiling at them both and walking off.
Cool, I have the ability to disrupt electronics, too! thought Ryan. He was grateful that Mr. Ortoki didn’t associate it with the other complaints.
The assistant principal sighed. “It was our deal, so I’ll let you off with a detention” He gave Ryan a detention slip and a pass to class and he trudged away.
Ryan then ran off to chemistry.
He got inside and he saw Mr. Roberts lecturing in front of the chalk board. He saw one student, Louis, the one who never pays attention, writing down notes quickly. He didn’t want to miss a word.
“—but, if you have it injected in perfect timing, you will see strange effects, which vary from person to person. The only person who used it correctly was Adam Strauss but he died two days later from old age. Now, here is a ‘Mastreil’ sample. Watch what happens when I pour it on this desk…. Did you see that! It spread all by its self and now I have a thin layer of Mastreil on my desk. Luckily, I have H2O2 here… There, it’s all clean. That’s wh—“ The bell rang and Mr. Roberts stopped talking. “That’s just about all I have to say. Class dismissed!”
The student who was writing in his notebook slammed it shut. Ryan asked him what he was writing down.
“Ryan Thompson, right?” asked the boy and Ryan nodded. “Great! I am keeping my information secret as for now, but keep in touch. I promise, we will get to know each other.” They exchanged phone numbers.

That Louis never called him back and now that Ryan lived in a new house with a new number, Louis would never call him, or at least that’s what Ryan thought.
Ryan’s powers were still a secret.
Ryan practiced most of the time on using his lightning ability. Now, he can spark major lightning shocks, make hand shocks (the first thing he ever did when he was in school) create tazer-like shocks, predict lightning, disrupt electronics (extremely well), and power small appliances. He is working on ball lightning and almost has it mastered. He can form it properly but when he controls it, it always flies out in a random direction, burning everything in its path. Everything in his house was either burnt or at one point, burnt. He is also working on lightning travel. He figured out that he can move one object around in the blink of an eye. He was playing around with his hand shocks and he drew one to his pencil. He then brought it to life and when the bolt was over, the pencil was now in his left hand, that hand that was on the other side of the bolt. Ever since then, he practiced doing it to himself. Every time he did it, he would leave a piece of him behind such as a sock or shirt (and even his hair, one time).
Ryan got out of bed and did his morning routine. As he was eating breakfast and getting ready for work, the phone rang. He went to pick it up but just as he got near the phone, he hit something. He pulled his hand back in surprise and saw a purple force field around the phone. Ryan waited for the machine to pick up.
“Hey, Ryan, just messin’ with you, ha-ha. It’s me, Louis Tozeen, from high school. I tol’ you I would keep in touch! Remember dat day you came late, when you tried to show me your lightnin’ ability?” Ryan instantly remembered, but was shocked that he knew. “I have my own secret, too. I create force fields like the one on your phone. I was writing notes because I knew that I can use them to create a medicine to give me these amazing powers. We need to get together. I have some plans… Let’s meet in between Wan Lin’s and The Puppy Place at 9:00 PM today. See you there!” The line went dead.
Ryan was in a daze for the rest of the day. He was imagining what Louis looked like and if he was really going to meet him again. After that one day they met, they never saw each other again.
It was 8:50PM, so Ryan set off to go to

Hehe, I was in the middle of a sentence there... This one does not have chapters yet. Later in the book, Ryan and Lue (is that his name?) turn bad and steal stuff and then they get sorrounded by the cops, Ryan has to teleport out, but he leaves behind his powers. Lue goes on solo but Ryan goes to jail. Lue does all this stuff, alone.
***SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER***
Then Ryan gets out of jail(and is becomes good and nice, but doesnt let Lue know). He gets Lue to give him a morphine or something, he gets his powers back, and in the middle of their biggest mission thingie, Ryan captures Lue. Then Lue goes to jail. Then they lived happily ever after... (except for Lue, who lived unhappily ever after in jail)

Ryan turning good and joining the police is the "Shocking" surprise. He has lightning (shocking) powers... heheheheehehe

SEQUAL WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!! If you like this one better, the sequal, obviously, will be Lue escaping from jail and being on the loose again and he gets stronger. He gets some other power thing like fire or something.

CRAP... every time i said Lue, I meant Louis. sorry.

Ok, now vote on which one you liked better!!!
